It was another busy day for the Beyond Beauty Basics Miami crew. We started the day with a media viewing party for Crystal Jin Eley’s designs. It was a 70′s throw back with a modernized variation of the tie dye. The pieces I liked were the bando tops with the fold over bottoms.
Next we visited True Religion‘s backstage with and spoke with Marcus Caillet, lead stylist for Miami Fashion Week and Creative Stylist for RUSK. Marcus told us how to fight the humidity in Miami with a product called Gleam. It keeps your hair from frizzing and protects it from the damaging sun. He used Gleam on almost all the models and they looked gorgeous on the runway! For the show Marcus produced a surfer/bohemian look with the following products from Rusk: Softwave, Thick, and Being Sexy; topped off with Scunci headbands.
True Religion never fails to deliver that good old piece of Americana, much like mom’s apple pie. Some of the collection was accented with a denim type material, updated Daisy Dukes which still brings back fond memories of my TV crush. Known for their funky, retro-vintage ‘70s style, True Religion Swimwear’s 2010 collection of “mix-and-match” separates offered a creative twist to their usual boho-chic style. This year’s swimwear collection was created with tone on tone colors, vintage inspired tie-dye prints, textured fabrics like faux snakeskin, plaid and camouflage.
Then it was off to Red Carter, a huge local favorite for his bold resort style designs. It was very funky, punky, and 80′s complete with black lips and tubular hairstyles! Far from ordinary, Red Carter pushes the envelope and excites the crowd. Images to come..
