Smack that DHT Buildup with Nioxin Scalp & Hair Care and a Giveaway!

Posted on 30 November 2010 by Paul Baranda

Nioxin Hair and Scalp Care System

It’s crazy how within a few months, your look can really change when your hair starts to thin. This is definitely a sign of aging that I have been praying to never come, and I’m not even that old yet! At the early age of 28, seeing a receding hairline motivated me enough to buy Rogaine which I’ve used quite a few times, but without consistency due to being discouraged from not seeing any results. Regardless it seemed like my hair continued to thin and I pretty much gave up on it. However, I have been recently trying out Nioxin System 6 as a recommendation from a stylist friend.

Nioxin Scalp and Hair Care is a system that includes a full head-on treatment for hair-loss. The Cleanser, better known to me as “the magic shampoo”, is great especially when you use a good amount of hair product like I do everyday. It really helped remove any residue that stayed on my scalp and apparently toxins as well. The conditioner is great too, and the scalp treatment is a daily leave-in which has many nutrients, antioxidants and protects against DHT buildup- a true enemy to my hair follicles! I kind of wish I had started this earlier when I HAD the hair to fight for! (I suggest you use this as a preventative treatment too, while you still have that hair!) Well, after 2 weeks it seems that my hair looks healthier and “happy.” I’ve never really noticed it before, but it just looks nourished and rejuvenated somehow. It’s a bit early to say if my hair is starting to look fuller, though that really is what I’m hoping. I’m just going to stick witht the regimen as my stylist friend suggests, and continue to monitor any progress. Healthy happy hair and scalp leads to fuller looking hair… Right? Everything is going well so far, so thanks Nioxin!

Oh and Nioxin is sponsoring a giveaway today so you can have the chance to try it out for yourself! All you have to do is leave a comment and tell us about your first hair thinning/loss moment or experience and we’ll choose 10 lucky winners to have their own system! This giveaway contest ends December 7, 2010 so be sure to leave a comment below!

People who have shiny, smooth hairstyles are the luckiest people of all. I mean, who wouldn’t want lush, glossy locks instead of frizzy, frazzled strands? If you weren’t blessed with shiny, healthy hair like Selena Gomez‘s, I’ve got a super-simple at-home treatment that can fix that, no expensive keratin salon treatment required.

First off, you’ll need two cups boiling water and two to four tea bags, depending on your hair length. Brunettes should use regular tea like Lipton, blondes should use chamomile…

Head & Shoulders insures Troy Polamalu’s hair for $1M

Posted on 08 September 2010 by Beyond Beauty Basics

Troy-PolamaluHead & Shoulders recently announced today that  they will be insuring Troy Polamalu’s trademark tresses, of the Pittsburgh Steelers,  for $1 million dollars! Whoa that’s quite a policy. The iconic curls of this Head & Shoulders spokesperson will be protected throughout the NFL season by the world’s leading insurance agency, Lloyd’s of London.  It certainly is the obvious truth that no other NFL player’s hair has been recognizable enough to need such a policy. Here’s a fun fact: Troy’s hair is so ridiculously full and thick that end to end it spans 100 football fields.

Log on to Troyshair.com to learn more about Troy’s secret weapon, head & shoulders’ Hair Endurance for Men.  The website also hosts the Mane Event challenge, a weekly, bracket-style tournament where eight NFL Legends will be competing for the title of most iconic NFL hair style of all time. Fans can vote for their favorite player each week until ultimately one player goes hair-to-hair against current heavy-weight, Troy Polamalu for NFL hair supremacy.

No Frizz: Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector

Posted on 25 August 2010 by Beyond Beauty Basics

Garnier_treatmentI love getting a brazilian blowout for my frizzy hair but I figured my wallet needed a break from the expensive salon treatmentsI pamper myself with. Thankfully, I came across a less expensive alternative to tame the unwelcomed frizz. The new Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector is a two-part smoothing system that leaves my hair sleek, shiny, and more manageable. All you have to do is apply the Smooth-It Serum through shampooed, towel-dried, and combed hair for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Then, simply apply Heat-Activated Perfect-It Cream, with natural rice oil, to seal in lasting smoothness and conditioning, and to create a weightless, humidity-resistant barrier to frizz. Garnier has made it so easy to achieve the perfect, bouncy-blow dry which even lasts for up to 7 shampoos and provides for faster blow dries! Available at Ulta.com for $9.99
