It’s that time of the year again! While most of us are planning are Fall and Winter wardrobes, New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is bringing us a sneak peek of what we’re going to see in stores and on Fashionistas in the Spring.
Each Ports 1961 collection is inspired by a specific person, culture, place or time – and as we found out backstage with Romero Jennings and the MAC Cosmetics team, this collection is inspired not only by Japan but also 1930s couture.
Ports 1961 Creative Director Tia Cibani created a collection that was feminine and diverse with its Asian and 1930s couture influences. Some dresses featured very fitted waists that are reminiscent of 1930s fashion. Others had the feel of silk Japanese kimonos, and others still were simple sheaths. Using sumptuous fabrics, the show kicked off with a few pieces in a brighter red shade that went beautifully with the softer palette of coral, sand, pearl whites, pale golds, and gray with a few abstract prints.
