(Warning: For those of your who may be stuck in a (make-up) time warp, this post may slightly sway your way of thinking.)
Certain cosmetic “couture” brands, such as Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior are linked to the fashion houses of the same names.
Not only do they represent the same level of luxury as their namesakes, they also emulate the seasonal fashion trends based on the season, styles and fabric textures of what’s being shown on the runway.
For instance, in a Fall season, Chanel may show a grey tweed jacket with a white organza blouse and a red satin skirt.
Their make-up collection would follow suit with a grey, matte eyeshadow, a white shimmery eyeshadow and a red lipstick and gloss.

Each of the companies have their Directors of Make-up preview the collections and collaborate with the designers to make sure that whatever you’re buying from their couture collection has a similar “feel” to the seasons make-up collection.

This, of course, is not for everyone. If you have classic style and wish to stay that way, many of the companies (including the “couture” brands) have staple products to maintain a beautiful appearance that you can keep for years.
Just make sure to look at yourself objectively and take the advise of a trusted professional (once in a while) to make sure that your look is still (somewhat) with the trends of today. A make-up time warp is a sure give-away to your true age!
