MAC Teams Up With Lady Gaga & Cyndi Lauper for Viva Glam!

by Jennifer Long-Levy

mac-viva-glam-lgThis year MAC is raising the VIVA GLAM bar, bringing in the voices of two incredible artists: Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper. They love lipstick. They love fashion. And they want to tell girls all over the world how to keep their love life safe, seductive and satisfying with eyes wide open to the facts about women and HIV/AIDS. These sizzling, sensuous self-created divas are channeling their high-voltage energy for VIVA GLAM and igniting From Our Lips – the new M·A·C Cosmetics VIVA GLAM campaign. In honor of all of the women who are living with the HIV/AIDS virus, and those working to curb its spread, the M·A·C AIDS Fund will announce $2.5 million in donations to fund model programs that address the vulnerabilities and inequities that place women at increased risk for HIV/AIDS.

Both artists are bringing women’s issues to the forefront of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Cyndi Lauper hit the music industry at the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, and Lady Gaga is explosively popular with young people of all kinds today. Together, they represent different generations that are equally impacted by AIDS this disease and helping to spread the message.

Spring 2010 sees two new VIVA GLAM shades introduced as limited life for 12 months on counter. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the sensational Cyndi Lauper and the electric Lady Gaga!

Viva Glam Spring 2010 Shades

viva-glam-cyndiViva Glam Cyndi is limited edition VIVA GLAM Lipstick named after celebrity spokesperson, Cyndi Lauper. Features a high-lustre finish and a light coral-red colour. As with all VIVA GLAM products, every cent raised through the purchase of VIVA GLAM Cyndi goes to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Cyndi Lauper: Lauded, loved, copied, passionately acclaimed, the idol of all those for whom a quirky idiosyncrasy in makeup, hair, or style may say it all, this uber-talented performer has never been a copycat, always been a muse. A singer/songwriter, Lauper characteristically uses her fame as a performer to help make her message heard. Whether touring the country to assist food banks or helming the True Colors Fund, which lobbies for GLBT equality, Lauper stands for what she believes in and, when it comes to HIV/AIDS, that’s safe sex. With the launch of VIVA GLAM Cyndi, she looks forward to helping support women who have contracted HIV/AIDS through rape.

viva-glam-gagaViva Glam Gaga is A limited edition VIVA GLAM Lipstick named after celebrity spokesperson Lady Gaga. Features a high lustre finish and cool blue-pink shade. As with all VIVA GLAM products, every cent raised through the purchase of VIVA GLAM Gaga goes to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Lady Gaga: A true superstar, Lady’s Gaga’s shock-art approach to performance turns our heads and makes us all go gaga. An enfant terrible who grew up singing Cyndi Lauper songs, performing was in her DNA. By her teens, she was singing self-penned electro pop in New York’s Lower East Side. Today, aided by hit records, headpieces and countless accolades, her worldwide breakthrough has brought her well-deserved notoriety, but also the ability to cock our ears. A legend in her own time whose shock value now comes with a couture tag, she jokes about “changing the world one sequin at a time.” With the launch of VIVA GLAM Gaga, that could be one shade at a time. Her take on HIV/AIDS prevention: Be selective about those you love.

VIVA GLAM and the MAC Aids Fund

The collection also includes  MAC Lipglass VIVA GLAM V and VI.

We’re very exciting about this year’s new colors and inspired by both Cyndi Lauper’s and Lady Gaga’s roles in it.

VIVA GLAM Lipsticks – even Limited Edition colors are $14.00.  The best part?  Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass is donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS.
