We’ve all been there: five days away from a party and without a thing to wear! In my case, it’s my cousin’s wedding Friday night. I had my heart set on a dress from White House | Black Market I’d seen about 4 or 5 weeks ago. I am something of a procrastinator… so by the time I got shopping the dress was sold out everywhere!
I proceeded to call every single White House | Black Market in the tri-state area. Every store either said they were sold out or the dresses they did have were too big or too small. I felt like Goldilocks. Except I’m a brunette.
FINALLY, I found a store that had it one size larger than my usual. Close enough. The size that is. The store? Not so much. I drove about 55 miles last night to Roosevelt Field Mall, where they were holding the dress for me.
When I got to the counter, I could taste the anticipation. The sales associate opened a mirrored door and there it was. The strapless ombre dress in beautiful shades of charcoal, pewter and black satin shone like moonlight (okay, I am exaggerating, but falling in love can do that to you). I inspected the bow and brooch fastened at the sash. This better fit!
I raced to the fitting room. I couldn’t get my jeans and argyle sweater off fast enough! It fit! Well, it needs a few tweaks, but close enough.
I wonder how far I’ll go for shoes?
