Holiday Metallics: MAC Cosmetics Style Black

by Jennifer Long-Levy

MAC-style-black-all-blackThis season I am glamming it up for all of my evening holiday parties (and one birthday party coming up this weekend for yours truly).  One trend I LOVE this season is metallics, especially metallic eye makeup.

MAC Cosmetics Style Black is a great all black collection, containing the hottest dramatic colors to score for the holiday season.  Black shades can be tough to wear (think Halloween) but the darker metallics used sparingly for a smokey eye or dramatic lip can be sexy and alluring. I can’t think of a more dramatic look for New Year’s Eve – can you?

From ’80s Sprouse-in-the-House kohl and fringe to London New Goth, going back to black changes the mood, deepens the drama. Eyeliner, beehives and beyond, this is a celebration of going madly, deliriously noir. Don’t wait ’til midnight.

The Style Black Collection

Mineralize Eye Shadow: A sheer, pearled, mineralized powder Eye Shadow with two shades baked together in one pan. Superfine, lightweight: provides a softly tinted, reflective shimmer on the skin with a delicate sense of dimension. Subtly builds colour and shine. Can be worn on face, eyes or body. Comes in four great shades: Blue Flame, Cinderfella, Gilt By Association, and Young Punk.  This is the metallic perfect for eye high drama. $19.50 each.

Penultimate Eye Liner: A liquid pen-style liner that provides the ultimate precise, bold line in a rich, deep carbon black shade. Goes on fluidly, in one steady stroke, to style any fashion of eye line. Rapidblack. $16.50 each.

Eye Kohl: A soft-on pencil liner that lines, defines and shades the eyes with rich colour and a silky-smooth, matte/pearl finish. Ophthalmologist tested. Smolder, $14.50 each.

Mattene Lipstick: With its streamlined design, this new slimline lipcolour, features the traditional glamour properties of a matte lipstick – intense colour and semi-matte velvety finish – while offering a creamier, softer, more glide-on application. Non-caking, non drying. Moisturizing and incredibly wearable yet absolutely matte. Comes in Night Violet or Midnight Media. $14.50.

Glimmerglass: A lightweight gloss formula featuring variously sized pearl particles that combine together to give a lustrously sheer colour with added glimmer, sparkle and pop. Blackfire, Blackware, Bling Black. $18.00 each.

Cream Colour Base: One of my faves! Versatile and multi-purpose, Cream Colour Base can be applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturizer, or powder. Apply with a brush, sponge, or fingers. Colour effects range from a light veil to highly dramatic, depending on method of application. Fragrance-free. (The following shade is not recommended for use in lip area: Fawntastic and Black. The following shades are not recommended for use in the eye area: Fabulush and Improper Copper.) Currently available in Black or Bat Black. All shades are just $16.50.

Nail Lacquer: Revolutionary new high gloss formula. Three long-wearing finishes – Cream, Sheer, and Frosted. Visibly different. Provides no-streak/no-chip finish. Contains conditioners and UV protection. Go hi-lacquer! $12.00, comes in great shades such as Baby Goth Girl, Nocturnelle, and Seriously Hip.
