Guilty Pour Homme is the newest award winning fragrance for men by Gucci. Being a huge fan of anything Gucci we were looking forward to testing out the newest scent from The House of Gucci.

Guilty Pour Homme is carefully designed for men who know what they want and who get what they want. Scene as a charismatic alpha male, a true magnet for ladies, is represented in this provocative and seductive composition. It is no wonder they picked Chris Evans (from Fantastic Four, and the highly-anticipated film Captain America: The First Avenger) to be the face of the fragrance.

The scent seizes hold of the senses with a heady cocktail of invigorating Italian lemon and mandarin with crushed green leaves – evocative of sap rising – and a defiant punch of pink pepper. Its middle motifs persuade like a whispered invitation. The herbal freshness of lavender coils around an aphrodisiac cardamom note – at once stimulating and entrancing – on an unexpectedly tender bed of orange flower and neroli. The patchouli that is the hallmark of all Gucci fragrances is married with cedar and sandal wood gleaming with amber to create a robustly earthy, yet suggestively exotic sensuality of a profound masculinity.

The bottle itself was crafted to have the look and feel of a flask with cold metal and heavy glass, making an impression of masculinity and luxury. Overall the Gucci Guilty was inspired by this classic Barbra Streisand album cover “A Star is Born” … I found to be very clever, see the ad resemblance!

Dolce & Gabbana

I never knew my love for technology and gadgets would include electric razors. I Am King by Sean John - You certainly feel like a king when you spray this sweet and refreshing scent. It’s not a statement of arrogance but rather “a motto of all men who will buy this fragrance.?, says Sean Jean Combs. This cologne has top notes of tangerine juice, orange, cranberry and French berries; middle notes are cassis and sea water; base notes are amalfi lemon, French labdanum, cedar, vetiver, oakmoss and sandalwood.  Sean John again wins Fragrance of the Year 2009 at the 37th FiFi Awards for this unique masculine freshness that I love to use daily for work.

Rock Volume I by John Varvatos – John Varvatos is definitely one of my favorite designer scents and has done it again with this limited edition fragrance putting an “edgy feel” and new twist from the original which shares the same top note of sage. Inspired by John Varvatos’ passion for rock ’n roll, the blend of rose absolute and coffee makes this a perfect wear for a fun date! This cologne transforms you with an image of sensuality and an explosive rock ‘n roll vibe.  Oh and the packaging is hands-down impressive having a bolt cap and a heavy metal shell with classic John Varvatos icons carved into it that encases the bottle. You can definitely “Rock ON!” with this scent.

Green Irish Tweed by Creed – I really shouldn’t be sharing my top secret fragrance for fear of everyone (including women as this is considered unisex) will be flocking to get this in their collection.  Usually, I save this favorite fragrance of mine for special events because it’s not exactly inexpensive and it normally gets sold out during the holiday season. Created originally for Cary Grant and worn by Robert Redford and Richard Gere, Green Irish Tweed is an elegant, yet sporty scent with notes of mysore, sandalwood, ambergris, violet leaves, French verbena and Florentine iris. I also suggest layering with other Creed fragrances for a nice mix of aromas.

Attitude Extreme by Giorgio Armani - What a perfect name to describe this power fragrance by the design house of Giorgio Armani. It’s a stronger, more intense version of Armani Attitude from 2007. It’s more masculine and unforgettable with notes of Sicilian lemon, star anise, cedar, cardamom, coffee, patchouli and amber. It’s been reworked to display masculinity in a dark, seductive, and potent fashion. I love to wear this in the evening as it strikes a sense of elegance and extreme attitude.

Tokyo by Kenzo – Inspired by serene nature and colorful nights in a modern metropolis Tokyo, this fragrance has a distinct masculine scent. It consists of a blend of ginger, lemon, grapefruit, shiso, cardamon, green tea, pink pepper and bitter orange. The allure of this cologne is the ability to blend a modern urban feel with the Japanese tranquility. It’s for the guy who loves the luminous, vibrant lights and scenery of a crazy electric city. Feeling energized from this fragrance, I’m ready for a night out on the town and the busy nightlife.

I think this is a great partnership with Troy being the perfect spokesperson.  His hair certainly gets just as much publicity as his football career.  However, this is such a great cause to help out our heroes and I’m glad to see Troy be part of it.  We were wondering what Troy’s thoughts are on his hair, the NFL, and his grooming habits.  So we asked Troy a few questions of our own:

BBB: How do you feel about the fact that hair is considered part of your uniform and there are no penalties for grabbing it and tackling players?

Troy: I have only been tackled by my hair once – so I do not think much of it. Longer hair is becoming more common throughout the league, but mainly with Defensive players.

BBB: How do you prepare physically and mentally before a game?

Troy: It differs from day to day. Some days I’m just flipping through the iPod trying to get pumped, some days I don’t want to listen to anything and just focus. From game to game from day to day, whatever people do to motivate themselves, they do. I do all kinds of things.

BBB: You’ve faced pretty much every quarterback in the NFL, who do you think is the toughest challenge?

Troy: There are many great Quarterbacks throughout the league – including Ben – but Peyton is probably the toughest challenge. He makes so many adjustments, is an accurate passer, and makes good decisions.

BBB: When was the last time you got a haircut?

Troy: It has been since 2000. It is a salute my heritage and the Samoan warrior spirit.

BBB: When you’re all dressed up for dinner, do you wear a ponytail?

Troy: Yes – off the field I usually keep my hair pulled back.

BBB: Does your helmet give you split ends and how do you fix that?

Troy: With my rigorous training and always having to wear a helmet, it usually leads to dryness and scalp itch – Head & Shoulders helps me take care of my scalp so my hair continues to look great.

The Payot Optimale Effective Shaving gel hydrates my skin as I shave, and it lets my razor just glide across my skin without irritating it or causing razor bumps. I usually shave my 5′o clock (or sometimes 11′o clock) shadow right after a shower to lessen any irritation and soften my face. Maybe Dad wants to smell nice when he takes Mom out on the town (they love The Melting Pot).

I like Creed’s Green Irish Tweed. It’s got notes of French verbena, Florentine iris, violet leaves, sandalwood from India, and ambergris. Plus the name seems perfect for my Irish dad. It retails from $122-250.

Burberry London by Burberry for Men is also a great choice. It has top notes of fresh bergamot, black pepper, lavender, and spicy cinnamon leaves; heart notes of Leather, mimosa flower notes, and port wine; and base notes of tobacco leaves, guaiac wood, dense oak moss, and soft opoponax. Totally masculine (which is important for a tool-toting dad). It can retail anywhere from $40-70.

Shaving Items:

Most dads need to shave everyday. Mine likes to keep a full moustache and beard, but he likes to keep it trimmed and neat. Some cool items to get dad:

When it comes to shaving, the options are limitless and I almost feel bad for you guys having to do this all on your own, so I am here to help. Remember, everyone has different skin, and everyone has a different style of shaving.

Essentially, there are four things you need to achieve the perfect shave:

1. A pre-shave oil or lotion
2. The perfect shaving cream or gel
3. A fabulous yet functional razor and/or brush
4. A soothing aftershave splash, lotion, or balm.

I know the pre-shave oil is often overlooked, but I introduced my boyfriend to this a few years ago and now he can’t live without it. Pre-shave oils are the answer to all of your shaving dilemmas. They do so much for the skin and you will get the most incredible and closest shave when you use one. Pre-shave oils moisten the skin, loosen the hair follicle, and condition at the same time. What this does is allow the hair to lift, straighten, and become softer for the shave. If you are a guy with ingrown hair issues, you will never see another one again once you start to use a pre-shave oil.

My favorite pre-shave oils are by the Art of Shaving. There are four blends to choose from, but I love the Lavender. You can use unscented, Lavender for sensitive skin, Lemon for oily skin, or Sandalwood for normal to dry skin.

Shaving creams and gels can get really personal. It’s almost like a woman picking out her favorite body lotion; a lot goes into the decision. Is it the right scent? Do I like the texture? How does my skin react when I put it on? For those of you out there that like the thick shaving cream, it is most likely you have a drier skin that needs a boost of hydration. Creams are best applied with a brush to help work the pre-shave oil into the pores and then get the hair out of the follicle.

Shaving gels are perfect for the guy with an oily skin or who is prone to breakouts. Gels are lightweight and will keep your razor close to the skin. Gels usually contain very soothing ingredients like aloe and vitamin E to help calm the skin. My favorite shaving creams and gels are:

Neutrogena Men Skin Clearing Shaving Cream – You can find this at your local drug store and it is usually less than $5. It will give your skin an exhilarating shave and help with future breakouts.

Anthony Logistics Shave Gel – You can find this online at Anthony.com or at Sephora or Sephora.com. This gel is packed with Aloe beads to soothe the skin as well as glycerin to lubricate the skin for an extremely close shave.

Lab Series Maximum Comfort Shave Cream is my absolute favorite – This cream is formulated for sensitive skin and helps prevent irritation. It is fragrance free and oil free. It’s perfect for all skin types.

When it comes to razors, this is where I am a pro! I have always prided myself on giving razors as a father’s day or birthday gift. I want to give something special that will last forever. Well, my friends and family have told me that although I have spent money on expensive razors, nothing compares to the Gillette Mach 3 Turbo. Every man in my life swears by this razor as being the best!

Aftershave splash, lotion, and balms are the final step to the perfect shave. Splashes usually contain the most alcohol and are best for oily skins. Lotions are for more of a normal to combination skin, and balms are great for dry skins. My favorites are:

Bliss Post Shave Repair Lotion – This is excellent for oily skins that are prone to breakouts. Your skin will love you!

L’Occitane Cade After Shave Balm – Known for their amazing products from french soap to bodycare, L’Occitane’s after shave balm will immediately cool the skin and help control redness. It’s perfect for dry skin types.

Did you know that there really are only a few differences between men and women’s skin and you can actually use a lot of the same skincare products, if not all! Here are some truths behind the differences between our skin and our guys:

• Women’s skin age faster than men’s because we lose collagen faster. So the men are lucky enough not to have to invest in all of the anti-aging products that we do to stay young. However, men do lose collagen so a little lift never hurt.

• Men have thicker skin than women; this is the most popular one of all. Yes, men do have a thicker skin, but only by 20-30 %. This helps the men not get as many fine lines and wrinkles as quickly as women do, but that’s not to say it won’t happen. Don’t gloat men, you will get wrinkles one day!

• Because men have more hair follicles on their face, their skin is more oily which also helps keep them young. Shaving everyday helps to exfoliate the skin and bring the new skin cells to the surface quickly. The down side to this is that it is proven that men are more prone to skin cancer than women so do not forget the sunscreen!

Now let’s talk product. I know you men out there only want the very best in skincare, so why is it that you are always and only going to men’s products? You are more than welcome to share in the luxury we women have of going to any cosmetic brand and finding what we need. So go ahead and use your ladies product and see what you think. Men’s skincare brands are great in that they smell great and are usually blended with a lot of essential oils to help with a close shave and soften the skin.
