Haven360 gives celebrities the spa treatment before the Oscars

by Ken Baranda

Oscar parties can take quite a toll on Hollywood’s elite. Produced by HFM U.S. and new partner, A-List Communications, HAVEN360 treated celebs to a variety of luxury spa treatments. OLAY Anti-Aging Themed Spa, manicures by OPI, and complimentary massages. After the pampering, the stars were styled up for a free photo session with acclaimed photographer, Brian Smith. Photos will be used by Premiere.com and The Creative Coalition to educate and mobilize leaders in the arts community on issues of public importance, specifically in the areas of First Amendment rights, arts advocacy and public education. Backstage creations provided the mother of all swag bags which included luxury watches by Croton, Fendi sunglasses, luxury luggage, and an exotic getaway by Hilton Resorts.

Stars come out to show their love of Dolphins

by Jelayna Rose

The CoveHollywood truly loves dolphins and made sure to show their support at an evening of fun hosted by HAVEN360, Premiere.com and Roadside Attractions. A-listers like Ben Stiller, Hayden Panettiere, Russell Simmons, and Malin Akerman came out to celebrate “The Cove” and their Academy Award Nomination for Best Documentary. It was a star studded night atop  the uber sophisticated Andaz Hotel. My good friend Jack Daniels kept the party going along with some great music, as I quickly interviewed some notable supporters of this wonderful film.  Many of the attendees agreed that “The Cove” was one of those movies that had “a soul moving” experience.  It is quite an inspiring film that uncovers the secret of inhumane dolphin slaughter in Taiji, Japan.  If you haven’t seen The Cove, take the time and see it.

It certainly was a night of celebration to see “The Cove” cast, director Louie Psihoyos, producer Fisher Stevens, Richard O’Barry and others from their crew enjoying such an honor. We had an amazing time speaking to a few of the attendees and finding out what they had to say about the film, including new “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Aiden Turner, Jerry Ferrara who plays Turtle on “Entourage”, Evan Handler from “Sex and the City,” Geoff Stults from “Happy Town,” and many more.

Jerry Ferrera:

BBB: What are your thoughts about “The Cove”?

JF: “It’s not just something you look at.  It’s something that opens your eyes to the existence of this situation. It makes you want to do something about it.”

BB: Do you think that “The Cove” nomination for an Academy award will make more people aware of this situation?

JF: “Definitely.  The nomination will open more people’s eyes to this ongoing problem. Yes, we can make a change and help this cause.”

Ben Stiller:

BBB: What are your thoughts about “The Cove”?

BS: “The film was well-toned and captivating.”

BB: What can the average every day person do to stop problem of dolphin slaughtering?

BS: “Don’t go to parks where they exploit the dolphins.  Don’t support the problem.”

Richard O’Barry:

BB: You have uncovered a dark secret about dolphin slaughter that many do not know is happening, how we can we help?

RO: “I’m going to Taiji Sept. 1!  Go to the website www.thecovemovie.com and be a part of the solution!”

Geoff Stults:

BBB: What did you think of this amazing film?

GS: “I loved the film! I want to do whatever I can to help. I’d like to get my friends and family involved too, by showing them this film and making them aware of the inhumanity to dolphins.”

The film’s publicist suggests that the young people of our generation need to be aware of this problem and make strides to help the cause.  Be aware and spread the word.

Bloggers and online editors come together for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Bryant Park’s Historic Last HurrahNYFWMediaMixerInviteFall10

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Feb 10, 2010 – Feb 10, 2010 – New York, NY Bryant Park’s Historic last hurrah is upon us and now more than ever, bloggers and online media are on the front lines.  Not only are they important to the success and coverage of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, they are often coveted by designers and brands.  To facilitate the collaboration of brands and online media, the Bi-Annual NYFW Media Mixer was born.  On the heels of their previous event in September, Lianne Farbes of  http://www.TheMakeupGirl.net and Paul Baranda of http://www.BeyondBeautyBasics.com are at it again, this time with the help of Secret Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant.  Farbes conceptualized the idea of a “brand sponsored” beauty tweet-up and approached her PR contacts about the idea.  After Baranda reached out to his contacts and the overwhelming response they got from the brands, they knew they were on to something.  Last season’s event was an overwhelming success with many brands asking how they could get involved before the event was even over.  This season, they have partnered with Christina Rice of Luxe Life Media as well as ZeroBased Media and have expanded the scope of the event.  Now the event is bigger and better with title sponsor Secret Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant on board the theme this season is “Fresh & Fearless” and it will be held this Saturday February 13, 2010 at the ION Studio NYC in SoHo.

In addition to the main sponsor, Farbes and Baranda have also secured other sponsors for the event including  Tarte Cosmetics, Ted Gibson Beauty, Lierac Skincare, Phyto Haircare, Suave Beauty, La Roche-Posay , PH8 , Vichy Skincare, Stila Cosmetics, Zeno, Gillette Venus, Zoya Nail Polish & Treatments are all on board as well as Candoni Wines (http://www.candoniwines.com) who will be providing the libations for the “Fresh & Fearless” cocktail being served.  Special guests include:

Leonardo Manetti, Marco Santini & Pasquale Ferrante Founders of ION Studio.  Lena Ott, Color Director at ION Studio, Ed Kavishe, Renowned Fashion Photographer & CEO of Fashion Wire Press.  Ted Gibson, Celebrity Hair Stylist of TLC’s “What Not To Wear”.  Jason Backe, Celebrity Colorist and Co-Owner of the Ted Gibson Salon.  Karen Robinovitz, Author, TV Personality and Creatrix of Purple Lab Cosmetics.  Michelle Madhok, CEO of SheFinds.com.

“The main purpose of the event is networking and camaraderie,” says Farbes.  “Paul & I are bloggers by trade, so we know what it takes to be on the front lines.”  She continues, “We wanted an event where we could catch up with all our blogger friends and at the same time network with brands and meet new bloggers face to face that we may or may not have heard of before.”

With years of experience in blogging and online media, Farbes & Baranda realized there was an opportunity to connect their social network of online voices with the best brands in the industry.  Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week has become a central hub for many who travel from all over the World to report from the tents. The NYFW Media Mixer has become the premiere event for new or veteran bloggers & online media that provides several opportunities, within the beauty and fashion industry; a place to meet, exchange ideas, and create relationships.

Founded in 2009, The Bi-Annual NYFW Media Mixer is the premiere event for bloggers and online media to connect and network to connect with the best brands in the industry.  For more info see http://www.nyfwmediamixer.com.
