This past weekend Beyond Beauty Basics was invited to checkout the Carrera Summer Escape, an all-day party on the top floor of the Cooper Square Hotel in NYC’s Lower East Side.  During the day, those who had access had a relaxing alternative than going to the Hamptons for the weekend.  Morning yoga by David Barton had guests saluting the invigorating sun instead of the scheduled rain; and all the sunning accessories were available for you to catch up on some R&R.  The penthouse full of essentials, was complete with Carrera’s “It” sunglasses, sunscreen by Lancaster, magazines and lounge furniture.  Even the bar cooled a full stock of refreshments like Bustelo Cool, Fiji water, and enough Fuze smoothies and Carlo Rossi sangria to keep you from heating up. At your service was also a hairstylist, masseuse, and manicurist to pamper you silly and help you forget the busy city many floors below.

When the sun finally retired, the music of DJ Mia Moretti (known for remixes of her best friend Katy Perry’s songs) filled the evening sky as the party crowd danced to great music while others enjoyed the breathtaking view of the city.  I, along with Anne Fritz (The JetSetGirls) and our friends, watched virtuoso violinist Caitlin Moe impress the crowd by fiddling to Moretti’s upbeat mixes.

This fun and exciting penthouse party certainly brought out a crowd such as Josh Lucas, Christian Siriano (whom I unfortunately did not get a chance to say hello to), model Agyness Deyn, designer Alexander Wang, and socialite Genevieve Jones (who I met on the bathroom line).  The Ting Tings were suppose to do a special DJ set but came too late to the party and only had time for a photo-op.  I was a bit disappointed because I’m such a huge fan, however I did take some great photos!  This penthouse patio was definitely the place to be last weekend as the party continued on Sunday night with Mischa Barton, Richie Rich, pregger Karolina Kurkova, and a special set by indie rock band Peter Bjorn and John.
