Here’s a quick recap on some international stars and Emmy winners from around the world at the 37th International Emmy Awards on November 23, 2009. The event was held at the Hilton Hotel in New York City.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, an organization comprised of leading media and entertainment figures from over 50 countries and 500 companies recognized excellence in television produced outside of the United States. The fifteen categories presented were: Arts Programming; Best Performance by an Actress; Best Performance by an Actor; Current Affairs; Children & Young People; Comedy; Digital Program: Children & Young People; Digital Program: Fiction; Digital Program: Non-Fiction; Documentary; Drama Series; News; Non-Scripted Entertainment; Telenovela; TV Movie/Mini-Series.
Hosted by UK’s very own and talk show host, Graham Norton, the gala also brought in celebrities from American television and the United States government including MTV’s Alexa Chung, Gossip Girl’s “Chuck Bass” actor Ed Westwick, Brazilian Model and Actress Juliana Paes, Nickelodeon Star Keke Palmer from the series True Jackson, Actress and former Miss Barcelona Mar Saura, Matthew Rhys from ABC’s hit drama Brothers & Sisters, Musician and DJ Moby, News Broadcaster Paula Zahn, Fashion Designer Rachel Roy, Law & Order’s Stephanie March and Robert Roy from CSI. World-renowned journalist and co-host of The View, Barbara Walters presented the Founders Award to Sir David Frost and Former Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger presented the Directorate Award to Professor Markus Schächter.
The red carpet welcomed some of the most beautiful attendees donned in gorgeous dresses and black-ties. Brazilian model and actress Juliana Paes wore a beautiful form-fitting, off-white satin, one shoulder dress which set off tons of camera flashes. When asked for her “beauty secret” by our friend Jeannine Morris from BeautySweetSpot.com, Juliana replied, “Drink lots of water!” Though Ed Westwick who plays Chuck Bass on the Gossip Girls hurriedly walked past the paparazzi, we did get a chance to speak to the Best Actress Nominee, Angel Locsin whose dress blinded the crowd. The actress from the Philippines wore a stunning gown decorated with 13lbs of Swarovski crystals and flowed into a sea of feathers, which had been held up in Customs two nights before the gala. The recurring beauty tip from the stars including Keke Palmer and Angel Locsin was, “Always wash your makeup off before you go to bed.” It was advice they clearly followed themselves from looks of their gorgeous complexions.
