No Frizz: Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector

by Beyond Beauty Basics

Garnier_treatmentI love getting a brazilian blowout for my frizzy hair but I figured my wallet needed a break from the expensive salon treatmentsI pamper myself with. Thankfully, I came across a less expensive alternative to tame the unwelcomed frizz. The new Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector is a two-part smoothing system that leaves my hair sleek, shiny, and more manageable. All you have to do is apply the Smooth-It Serum through shampooed, towel-dried, and combed hair for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Then, simply apply Heat-Activated Perfect-It Cream, with natural rice oil, to seal in lasting smoothness and conditioning, and to create a weightless, humidity-resistant barrier to frizz. Garnier has made it so easy to achieve the perfect, bouncy-blow dry which even lasts for up to 7 shampoos and provides for faster blow dries! Available at Ulta.com for $9.99

Westin Hotels & Resorts debuts 19th Heavenly Spa™

by Beyond Beauty Basics

westin-heavenly-spa-logoAs part of Spa Brand’s worldwide expansion Heavenly Spa brings mind-body wellness and signature revitalizing treatments to The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa. Westin Hotels & Resorts continues the global expansion of its signature spa brand, the Heavenly Spa by Westin™, with its newest Heavenly Spa at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa in Georgia.

The 20-treatment room spa opened on June 30th and is the nineteenth property in the luxury spa brand. The new spa continues Westin’s goal of bringing personal renewal to all guests with an array of treatments and experiences aimed at mind-body wellness and revitalization. Each Heavenly Spa property features signature treatments, including unique programs that reflect local culture and customs.

Currently available at 19 Westin Hotels & Resorts worldwide, the Heavenly Spa will expand to more than 29 additional properties by 2011, and is built upon two of Westin’s core philosophies: preserving wellness on the road and helping guests feel better when they leave than when they arrived. The expansion of the Heavenly Spa brand is part of the brand’s aggressive global growth strategy. Westin’s hotel openings this year span China, Greece, Japan, India, Mexico, the United States, and Canada including The Westin Mumbai Garden City in India; The Westin Nanjing in Shanghai, China and The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino in Messinia, Greece.

“We are thrilled to welcome our newest Heavenly Spa at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa and introduce our signature offerings and wellness infused treatments to local residents and visitors to Savannah,” said Nancy London, Senior Vice President, Westin Hotels & Resorts. “We plan on growing our spa portfolio in 2010 and 2011 by introducing ten more Heavenly Spas around the world in key destinations like Siray Bay, Phuket, Thailand; Santa Fe, Mexico City, Mexico; and Gurgaon, New Delhi, India.”

“Heaven” Makes its Way to Savannah

Upon entering the new Heavenly Spa by Westin, visitors are welcomed by the beauty of historic Savannah combined with Westin’s modern classic design. Guests can relax over a suspended dish of orchids in one of 20 treatment rooms named after Savannah’s historic “squares.” Each treatment room also features images of these “squares,” or urban parks, as captured by local photographer Ricky Willis. The room styles reflect the range of treatment options, including a brand new deluxe couples’ suite complete with a tub for two and a pair of heated Heavenly Massage Tables; numerous “wet rooms” featuring Vichy showers and Scotch Sprays; and “traditional” treatment rooms, which are personalized to reflect the needs of each guest. Westin’s commitment to renewable resources is evident in the choice of bamboo flooring and treatments that use natural ingredients.

The WestinWORKOUT® gym, located at the resort’s clubhouse with the spa, offers guests yet another revitalizing experience with state-of-the-art fitness equipment and personalized trainers.

Westin Heavenly Spa Signature Treatments

Signature menu items include Rollerssage, a unique massage service in which pure, perfectly round crystals are heated and rolled over the body for a deeply penetrating massage that’s utterly calming and completely absorbing; Celestial Body treatments to detoxify, hydrate and heal; and Heavenly Glow facial treatments to purify and enhance beauty. Beyond providing a respite for physical rest, relaxation and recovery, the spa aspires to uplift guests and encourage them to focus on the betterment of self, elevation of spirit, enhancement of mood, improvement of outlook and total body wellness.

A gentle chime signifies the beginning of the treatment, when guests enter a peaceful and calming zone. Therapists begin treatments with a signature serenity welcome, a ritual that combines aromatic oils with massage of the face, neck, ears and scalp.
