Between the packaging of the product and the uniforms of the people at the counter, I don’t know which one draws me to the counter more. This brand is relatively new to the cosmetics world with select distribution. Paul and Joe was created in 2002 by French Designer, Sophie Albou. The line was named for Sophie’s two sons. Sophie created the line to encapsulate the brand’s philosophy of ‘fun loving sophistication’.
The line is nice for someone who doesn’t like a lot of make-up but still wants to be pretty. If you’re missing Stila Cosmetics, it kind of reminds me of the same type of product.

The shadows are probably my favorite part of the line. They’re sheer and shimmery, yet they give just the right amount of pop to the eye.
I also like the emory boards (which have the design of the season on them).

If you haven’t heard, Space NK’s Nicky Kinnaird is the queen of the British niche beauty retailers and is here to stay. Space NK opened its first U.S. location at trendy 99 Greene Street in New York’s Soho neighborhood this past June and is doing incredible well. I was recently walking the around Soho enjoying this extremely warm October weather when I stumbled across the store for the first time. It is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful with all of your skincare and color needs. I love the simple elegance of the store, it really made it all about the product, no fluff needed.Kinnaird says that what keeps them special and different from the larger competitors, like Sephora, is they provide excellent customer service in a more intimate environment. Space NK offers a highly edited assortment of luxury skin care and color lines, as well as many exclusives from Europe. Also, Kinnaird is big on the organic lines as
well and is in the process of adding Jurlique, and organically produced line from Australia, INA Crystals from the London-based Inner Nutritional Alchemy Crystals Ltd. This is a treatment line based on crystal salts and natural ingredients.
The latest additions to the Space NK locations will be a new store in the Short Hills Mall in Short Hills New Jersey set to open later this month and another on Columbus Avenue in Manhattan’s Upper West Side between 69th and 70th street opening late November.

Most women, up until the 1960’s brushed their hair daily before going to bed. Because styles changed and more people started to wash their hair more often, brushing went out of style.
Brushing your hair actually does serve a purpose; it cleans and stimulates the scalp and takes the sebum (your own natural oil) from the root of each hair follicle through the strand keeping the ends of your hair as shiny and supple looking as the root.
Mason Pearson has been making the BEST brush (for brushing, not for styling) since the 1860’s in London.
Everyone should actually brush their hair 15 times in each direction (front, back, left to right and right to left) before going to bed each night. You’ll find that once you start brushing you won’t need to wash your hair as often and it (as well as your scalp) will become much healthier over time. It also feels great.
You’ll want to choose the correct brush for your hair type and length.
- Pure Boar Bristle is for Fine to Normal hair
- Mixted Bristle and Nylon is for Thicker Waivy hair
- and Nylon is for Thick Course or Curly Hair
The Sizes of the brushes are determined by the length of your hair. The shorter the hair, the smaller the brush, the longer the hair, the larger the brush.
They also make a Detangler brush that’s excellent.
Once you try it you’ll be hooked.
The brushes are on the expensive side but worth every cent.
